CCSS Missions Committee first ever Servant Event.

At Concordia, our mission – broadly put – is to serve God by serving others. Most often, that service occurs in our senior care communities and in the homes of those we serve through our home and community services organizations. But there’s a lot of service and support that we provide others that many people don’t realize. And that’s intentional.
We subscribe to the teachings of Matthew 6: 1-4 -- “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets... But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
But in March of 2018, Concordia Community Support Services started something that we just couldn’t keep to ourselves – partly because we hope to get even more people on board with the idea. We formed a mission committee to start doing quarterly community servant events in the areas we serve..
The first servant event was held in March.
A number of employees spent an afternoon volunteering at The Lighthouse Foundation, a nonprofit based in Butler, PA that provides, among other things, a food bank for those in need. In this video, a few of our employees talked about the experience.
